ADAFSA Confirms Strict Ban on Cryptocurrency Mining on Abu Dhabi Agricultural Land

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has strictly banned cryptocurrency mining on agricultural land in the emirate. This action follows the detection of several farms misusing their land for this activity, which violates regulations that restrict farmlands solely to agricultural and livestock purposes.

ADAFSA warned that both farm owners and tenants caught engaging in crypto mining will face severe administrative penalties, including an initial AED100,000 fine (which doubles for repeat offenses). Non-compliant farms will also face the suspension of all services and support, the disconnection of electricity, and the confiscation of mining equipment. ADAFSA stressed that this prohibition is necessary to ensure agricultural sustainability and biosecurity.
