Teyana Taylor Dominates the 2026 BET Awards with Four Major Wins

Teyana Taylor emerged as a major winner at Sunday’s Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, an event celebrating excellence among Black actors, musicians, and sports figures. Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and broadcast across various Paramount networks, the ceremony saw Taylor secure four trophies. Among her wins were Best Actress, Fashion Vanguard, and Video Director of the Year for her short film Escape Room. She was also presented with the noncompetitive Icon of the Year award by Janet Jackson. During an emotional acceptance speech, Taylor expressed deep gratitude to Jackson and reflected on her two decades of hard work in the industry.

The ceremony was hosted by comedian Druski, who became the youngest host in the event’s history. He opened the show with a comedic pastor routine that mixed humor with spiritual tributes. The night featured live performances from artists including Cardi B, Raye, T.I., Kehlani, Doechii, and Don Toliver.

Legendary music executive Sylvia Rhone was presented with the BET Ultimate Icon Award, recognizing her lasting impact on the entertainment industry and the Black community. Rhone, a 50-year music industry veteran, has broken major boundaries as the first Black woman to hold top-level executive positions at prominent record labels, including Epic Records, Universal Motown, Elektra, Atlantic, and East West. Known for mentoring stars like Missy Elliott, Brandy, and Busta Rhymes, the 74-year-old executive emphasized the global influence of Black creativity and urged the next generation of creators to protect the soul of music in the digital age.

Other notable accolades of the evening included Cardi B winning Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, while Lauryn Hill was honored with the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award.
