SMBC Debuts “SMBC Connect” as New Global Identity for Transaction Banking

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has introduced a new global transaction banking identity called “SMBC Connect,” which consolidates the bank’s payment and cash management operations. According to an April 2026 announcement, the brand will begin introducing a suite of advanced features and services throughout the 2026 fiscal year.

The initiative focuses on modernizing SMBC’s current transaction banking suite, prioritizing a more intuitive and seamless user experience for its global cash management services. To achieve this, the bank is integrating cloud technology, artificial intelligence, and application programming interfaces (APIs) to optimize core functions such as liquidity pooling.

Furthermore, the Japanese financial giant plans to expand its global footprint with several new offerings. This includes the scheduled launch of a next-generation cash management platform in North America in June 2026, marking a significant step in the bank’s digital transformation strategy.
