Taylor Swift is the top contender for this year’s American Music Awards, securing eight nominations including artist, song, and album of the year. Following her record-breaking history at the ceremony, Swift is closely trailed by Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, SOMBR, and Morgan Wallen, who each earned seven nods. Notably, this year marks the first time Dean and SOMBR have been nominated, both appearing in the new artist of the year category.
The awards also recognize the vocal talent from the Netflix film “KPop Demon Hunters,” with EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami nominated for their hit “Golden.” Nominees were selected based on a combination of Billboard chart performance, streaming data, sales, and social media reach.
The winners will be determined by fan votes and announced during a live broadcast from Las Vegas on May 25. The ceremony, hosted by the multi-talented Queen Latifah, will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
