Leading accessibility organisation Svayam has been named as the official Accessibility Partner for the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix taking place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium from (08th – 13th) March 2025. Reinforcing its commitment to making sporting venues more inclusive, Svayam has conducted a detailed accessibility review of the venue and provided customised transport solutions, facilitating smooth mobility for all participants. The organisation also aims to take an Accessibility Pledge, further strengthening its efforts to create barrier-free environments.

Svayam as Official Accessibility Partner for New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix

India marks a major milestone by hosting the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix, its first international para-athletics championship of this scale. Commencing on 08th March 2025, the competition will welcome over 350 para-athletes from 20+ countries, providing them with a global platform to display their skill and determination.

Highlighting the importance of ensuring ease of access at such large-scale sporting gatherings, Sminu Jindal, Founder-Chairperson of Svayam, said, “India is proud to host the World Para Athletics Grand Prix for the first time, and Svayam is honored to be the accessibility partner. The event will bring together athletes from 20 countries, and Svayam is dedicated to overcoming logistical challenges to support their efforts. Building on previous collaborations with major para-athletic events like the Khelo India Para Games and the Paralympics, this partnership is a natural step forward. With thoughtful planning, I am confident that we can create truly inclusive sporting experiences. My best wishes go out to all participants as the Grand Prix begins.”

With an extensive history of advancing accessibility in sports, Svayam has collaborated with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) during major events, including the Tokyo Paralympics 2021 and Paris Paralympics 2024. The organisation has also contributed to the 5th Indian Open Para-Athletic International Championship & Regional Sports Training (2023) in Bangalore and partnered with the Disability Cricket Council of India (DCCI) since 2020. Svayam played a key role in the first Khelo India Para Games (2023) and continues to advocate for meaningful changes in sports infrastructure.

Jayawant Gundu Hamanawar, General Secretary of Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), emphasised the broader impact of this collaboration, stating, “This tournament is not merely a showcase of athletic excellence, it is a significant step toward reshaping India’s approach to para-sports. By working with Svayam, we are assuring that players can focus entirely on their performance, free from concerns about infrastructure challenges. This initiative showcases our staunchness to building an equitable environment for all athletes.”

The New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Grand Prix represents progress toward a sporting culture that prioritises accessibility at its core. Svayam’s involvement will help establish new benchmarks for future events, securing opportunities for para-athletes to compete without limitations.

About Svayam
Svayam is a leading accessibility organization that aims to reform infrastructure and transportation to make it accessible for people with reduced mobility. Accessibility aids individuals and gives them the freedom to independently explore the built environment around them, irrespective of their physical capabilities. This was on philanthropist-business visionary Sminu Jindals mind when she founded Svayam in October 2000. An initiative of the Sminu Jindal Charitable Trust, Svayam is a not-for-profit accessibility pioneer that focuses on creating a barrier-free world for all.
