Backed by Microsoft, OpenAI acquires Rockset, a search and database analytics company, for an undisclosed sum.
Vector search, a feature that Rockset provides, has seen a rise in usage as more apps leverage AI to power chatbots, voice assistants, recommendation engines, and anomaly detection.
According to Rockset, it will be integrated into OpenAI and fuel the ChatGPT manufacturer’s retrieval infrastructure.
OpenAI’s access to data will improve with Rockset’s expertise, potentially leading to faster, more accurate AI model responses.
To stay competitive, OpenAI enhances ChatGPT with new features, developing AI models amid rivals like Anthropic and Google.
In an effort to take on Google and the AI search firm Perplexity, OpenAI has been working on a search engine solution.
In August of last year, Rockset, which has investors including Greylock, Sequoia, and the venture capital arm of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, said that it had raised a total of $105 million in financing.
