Citi has bolstered its financial institutions investment banking (FIG) group by recruiting two senior leaders from Bank of America to capitalize on rising M&A and financing opportunities within the Asia Pacific insurance market. According to a May 13, 2026, announcement, the firm is strategically positioning itself to handle increased activity across regional insurance sectors.
Jonathan Alpert is set to join the bank in September as the global head of insurance. Bringing extensive experience from his previous role as co-head of global insurance at BofA, Alpert specializes in advising major international insurance groups on complex cross-border transactions.
In August, Ryan Willingham will also join the team as a managing director for specialty finance. Willingham previously spearheaded specialty finance coverage within BofA’s financial institutions group, and his appointment reflects Citi’s focus on deepening its expertise in this niche financial sector.
