Announced in a joint statement, the initiative seeks to align the distinct proprietary security protocols of each firm—Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol, Mastercard’s Verifiable Intent, and Ant International’s Agentic Mobile Protocol—around unified operational principles. By harmonizing these standards while maintaining independent verification and decisioning mechanisms, the companies intend to reduce integration costs and accelerate time-to-market for digital wallet ecosystems, card networks, and emerging agentic marketplaces.
The collaborative framework addresses an accelerating shift toward automated commerce, with industry projections from McKinsey & Company estimating that AI agents could orchestrate between 3 trillion and 5 trillion dollars in global consumer transactions by 2030. Within this expanding ecosystem, robust KYA architecture serves as a foundational layer to establish legal accountability, verify autonomous identity, and mitigate fraud risks.
