Qatar is set to completely halt gas liquefaction operations on Wednesday and may take at least a month to restore normal production and export levels of liquefied natural gas, according to two sources familiar with the situation.
QatarEnergy has already suspended gas production earlier this week and declared force majeure on exports. The company has not issued an official comment.
Sources said that once the main liquefaction facility at Ras Laffan Industrial City shuts down, restarting the process of converting natural gas into liquefied fuel could take at least two weeks based on initial estimates. After operations resume, it may require an additional two weeks to ramp production back to full capacity.
