DBS Bank has deployed an agentic artificial intelligence tool to 1,500 employees worldwide to streamline the creation of credit assessments for mid-sized and large corporate clients. Following a 150-person pilot program, the technology assigns specialized AI agents to manage over 70 distinct tasks, automatically gathering data from internal company files, annual reports, and market research to generate an initial, review-ready credit memo. The bank aims for the platform to reduce the time spent on credit-related activities by at least 30%, addressing a core administrative workflow that traditionally consumes up to 40% of a relationship manager’s workload.
Under the new workflow, relationship managers and credit risk teams collaborate directly with the AI agents to refine initial drafts, layer in industry context, and integrate nuanced client insights before finalizing credit documents. Han Kwee Juan, DBS group head of institutional banking, noted that the tool captures the expertise of senior credit risk personnel to handle baseline research tasks. This shift allows relationship managers to reallocate their hours toward strategic business growth and client partnerships while enabling credit risk managers to take a more proactive approach to risk management.
