The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) achieved the top spot in the Asia Pacific region and ranked fourth globally for its maturity in Artificial Intelligence (AI), according to the 2025 Evident AI Index for the banking sector.
This index, which evaluates 50 global banks across four areas (talent, innovation, leadership, and transparency), specifically recognized the Australian bank as number one for its focus on talent development and responsible AI leadership.
CBA’s Group Chief Information Officer, Gavine Munroe, credited the improved ranking (up from fifth place globally in 2024) to the bank’s sustained investment in responsible AI. He stated that the bank’s strategy is built upon its “partnerships, platforms and people,” and its key focus remains on responsibly expanding its AI capabilities.
