Tesla Expands Middle East Reach, Launches Cybertruck in Qatar.

Tesla Expands Middle East Presence, Launches Cybertruck in Qatar

Tesla has expanded its operations in the Middle East by launching sales of its Cybertruck in Qatar. This move, announced on Friday, follows the company’s entry into Saudi Arabia earlier this year.

This international push is part of Tesla’s strategy to grow its market share globally as it deals with slowing demand and tough competition in its key markets, the U.S. and China.

Middle East Operations

  • Saudi Arabia Debut: Tesla began operations in Saudi Arabia in April, featuring the Cybertruck and the updated Model Y. The company plans to support regional sales with online ordering, temporary showrooms, Supercharger stations, and service centers.

  • Regional Expansion: Qatar now joins the UAE (where Tesla launched in 2017) and Saudi Arabia as the third Middle Eastern country to receive the Cybertruck outside of North America.

  • Musk-Kingdom Ties: The Saudi launch also symbolically mended a past disagreement between CEO Elon Musk and the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund.

Broader Context

Tesla is facing strong competition in the region from rivals like China’s BYD and Zeekr, as well as U.S. competitor Lucid, which is backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

Globally, the company recorded a rush of deliveries in the third quarter as U.S. buyers hastened to claim a $7,500 tax credit before it expired. However, market analysts are anticipating a significant drop in deliveries for the fourth quarter now that this major incentive has been removed.
