Thailand and China extend their bilateral currency swap agreement.

The Bank of Thailand and the People’s Bank of China have renewed a five-year currency swap agreement between the Thai Baht and the Chinese Yuan, effective December 22, 2025. This arrangement is intended to strengthen financial cooperation and support trade and investment between the two countries.

Officials believe the agreement will also encourage private businesses to use local currencies for cross-border transactions, boosting confidence in their use.
