Pop sensation Taylor Swift made “a gigantic debut at No. 1” on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the sale of 2.61 million album and streaming units of “The Tortured Poets Department” in its first week of availability in the United States, according to a report published by Billboard on Sunday.

According to Billboard, traditional album sales reached 1.91 million in the week ending April 25, citing figures from Luminate. These sales encompassed digital download albums, CDs, cassettes, and vinyl. There were 891.34 million official on-demand streams of the album.

According to Billboard, the album had the greatest sales week for a vinyl album in the modern period and the best streaming week for an album ever. Additionally, it is 2024’s best-selling album to date.

With this album, Swift tied Jay-Z for the most No. 1 hits among soloists with her 14th chart-topping album.

On April 19, Swift released the first 16 songs from her album “Poets”. She shocked fans by revealing it was a double CD with 15 additional songs two hours later.

The 34-year-old record-breaking singer, whose album “Midnights” earned an astounding fourth album of the year at the February Grammy Awards, released his eleventh studio album.

“Poets” surpassed 1 billion streams in a single week, according to Spotify (SPOT.N) last week.

Swift broke the Beatles’ record for the fastest performer to achieve 12 UK number one albums on Friday by outselling the other top 10 artists combined and topping the British music charts.

Critics and fans largely gave “Poets,” which is distributed by Universal Music Group (UMG.AS), favorable reviews.

In May, Swift will return to Paris for her Eras Tour, which is the highest-grossing concert tour in history.

She is one of several leading female musicians putting out albums this spring. Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” made its premiere in March, while Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa will be releasing songs the following month.
