According to data from Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), loans extended to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by domestic banks reached $349.39 billion (NT$10.45 trillion) by the end of April 2025.
This figure represents a $1.76 billion (NT$52.5 billion) increase from the previous month. As of the end of April, SME loans constituted a significant portion of all lending, making up 64.44% of total loans to all enterprises and 68.12% of loans to private enterprises.
Furthermore, the credit quality of these loans improved slightly, with the average non-performing loan (NPL) ratio for SME loans recorded at 0.24%, a decrease of 0.01 percentage points from the end of March.
