Schneider Electric anticipates that its Indian data center division will outpace the company’s broader domestic operations over the next four to five years, fueled by escalating demand for AI-compatible infrastructure. Data centers currently comprise 15% to 20% of Schneider Electric’s revenue in India and are sustaining double-digit growth. Sumati Sahgal, Vice President for Secure Power and Data Centres in the Greater India Zone, stated in a recent interview that the segment is poised to capture a significantly larger market share, identifying data centers and grid modernization as the company’s primary growth drivers. This internal corporate acceleration aligns with broader market forecasts; research from Astute Analytica projects that India’s total data center market value will climb to $31.36 billion by 2035, expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.37%.
India’s total data center capacity is forecast to surge from its current 1.5 gigawatts to between 6 and 7 gigawatts by 2030. Sahgal noted that infrastructure investments are decentralizing away from traditional hubs like Mumbai and Chennai, migrating into states such as Gujarat and Rajasthan as operators look to position facilities closer to end-users. Driven by demand from hyperscalers, colocation providers, and enterprise clients requiring integrated services, India is transforming into both a consumption market and a manufacturing base for specialized power and cooling hardware. Schneider Electric remains positioned as a critical vendor for these high-density AI workloads, supplying a comprehensive suite of locally manufactured infrastructure including UPS systems, switchgear, power distribution units, precision cooling systems, and energy management software. While the parent firm handles full-scale data center deployment and software services, its locally listed subsidiary, Schneider Electric Infrastructure, focuses specifically on manufacturing electrical distribution components like transformers and switchgear.
