Russian drone strikes overnight caused a fire in Kyiv and injured a woman in the northeastern city of Sumy, according to Ukrainian officials on Monday.
The Ukrainian military reported that it shot down 61 out of 83 drones, with 22 additional drones likely intercepted by electronic warfare.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko shared on Telegram that no injuries were reported in the Kyiv attack, which caused a fire in a non-residential building.
However, a 38-year-old woman was hospitalized following the drone strikes in Sumy, the administrative center of the Sumy region, stated Ihor Kalchenko, the regional governor.
Kalchenko also mentioned that five houses sustained damage.
Emergency service photos from the scene depicted burning cars next to a high-rise building with broken windows.
The emergency services reported that the attack shattered over 300 windows and led to the evacuation of 65 residents from the affected homes. Russia did not issue a comment on the incident.
Both Ukraine and Russia assert that they do not target civilians in the full-scale invasion that began in February 2022.
Nonetheless, thousands of civilians have died in the conflict, with the vast majority being Ukrainian.
