In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the Dubai Airshow 2025 press conference, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths made several significant announcements regarding the airports and the upcoming airshow.
Griffiths projected that Dubai International Airport (DXB) will handle a record 95.3 million passengers by the close of 2025, maintaining its 11-year streak as the world’s busiest international hub. He is confident that DXB will exceed 100 million passengers by 2027. Long-term plans indicate a shift of operations to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) by 2032 to handle an estimated 124 million passengers, with DXB’s volume set to peak around 115 million in 2031. Griffiths also confirmed that development works are underway at DWC, which has been operational since 2010 for cargo and executive flights, with final designs for the massive expansion currently being finalized.
Regarding the Dubai Airshow 2025, Griffiths hailed it as the most impressive edition yet and the world’s top aviation event. He noted its importance for showcasing new technologies, particularly in areas like Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) electric aircraft, space technologies, and advanced defense systems.
