UAE Removed from Brazil’s Preferential Tax Regime List, Boosting Bilateral Ties

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially been removed from the Federative Republic of Brazil’s list of jurisdictions with preferential tax regimes. This significant announcement by the Ministry of Finance highlights the UAE’s strong commitment to international standards of tax transparency and global financial governance.

The removal also underscores the growing depth and maturity of the economic and trade relationship between the two nations. Dedicated technical teams from both countries collaborated extensively to meet all Brazilian requirements concerning tax transparency and investment standards. This achievement is the result of extensive technical dialogue built on strategic alignment and partnership.

Mohamed Bin Hadi Al Hussaini, UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs, affirmed that this reflects the UAE’s steadfast dedication to implementing international best practices in its financial and tax frameworks. He described it as a testament to the success of UAE diplomacy in fostering partnerships based on transparency and mutual trust.

Al Hussaini emphasized that this milestone will serve as a launchpad for further strengthening economic cooperation with Brazil, unlocking new opportunities for mutual investment that support both nations’ goals for comprehensive and sustainable economic development. The UAE plans to continue deepening bilateral ties and activating strategic initiatives for the benefit of both economies and peoples.

The UAE is already the leading destination for Brazilian exports among Arab countries, with bilateral trade exceeding US$4.3 billion in 2024. This makes Brazil the UAE’s largest trading partner in South America. Both nations remain committed to exploring all avenues for cooperation and shared opportunities to enhance their economic relationship.

This development is expected to further accelerate bilateral cooperation, especially in key sectors like trade and investment, supporting sustainable development goals and reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global business hub. The announcement marks a pivotal moment in UAE-Brazil relations, reflecting a shared vision for a robust economic partnership founded on tax transparency, good governance, and initiatives that drive sustainable growth and prosperity.
