NATO coalition confirms first round of enterprises receiving funds from €1 billion innovation fund.
Months after Russia’s invasion, the alliance pledged to invest in defence technologies and revealed the fund in summer 2022.
Of NATO’s 32 nations, 24 support the fund, including Finland and Sweden, which joined earlier this year.
The NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) invested in four European tech firms, aiming to address defence, security, and resilience concerns.
The body funded ARX Robotics for unmanned robots and Fractile for accelerating large language models like ChatGPT.
The other businesses are Space Forge, using space conditions for semiconductors, and iCOMAT, making lighter automotive materials.
Andrea Traversone stated, “Access to strategic technologies is key for the alliance’s safe and prosperous future.”
To boost deep tech investment, the fund partnered with Alpine Space Ventures, OTB Ventures, Join Capital, and Vsquared Ventures.
