JPMorgan announced plans on Monday to deploy over $750 billion into the housing sector by 2035, aiming to expand homeownership opportunities and boost housing supply across the U.S. As part of its broader “American Dream Initiative”—which also targets small-business lending and healthcare access—the banking giant intends to increase its mortgage lending by more than 40%, helping to finance homes for over 500,000 customers.
The move comes as high interest rates and steep property prices continue to sideline prospective buyers and dampen U.S. housing market activity. Michelle Herrick, JPMorgan’s head of commercial real estate, emphasized that establishing an affordable and resilient housing market is critical for driving long-term economic growth and opportunity.
