JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has named Claude Kurzo as its new Head of the Middle East, a move that takes effect immediately. Kurzo, the former UK country head for the firm, will now report to Patrick Thomson, the EMEA CEO at JPMAM.
Having been with JPMAM since 2012, Kurzo has held several senior leadership positions in London, New York, and Zurich, including Global Head of Strategy and Country Head for both Switzerland and the UK. Prior to his tenure at JP Morgan, he worked for McKinsey in the Middle East and Switzerland.
The investment bank stated that Kurzo’s appointment is a strategic step in its plan to expand its footprint in the Middle East. This decision follows recent comments from Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of the firm’s asset and wealth management business, at the Qatar Economic Forum. Erdoes announced plans to hire over 100 new staff in the region, which would increase JP Morgan’s total employee count in the Middle East from 370 to nearly 500.
