Fubon Financial Holding and Cathay Financial Holdings maintained strong positions among Taiwan’s top three wealthiest groups, according to Forbes’ 2025 rankings.
Daniel and Richard Tsai of Fubon Financial Holding were named the richest in Taiwan, with a family net worth of \$13.9 billion. Their fortune was boosted by a 16% rise in Fubon’s shares over the past year, driven by growth in its banking operations.
Fubon’s major subsidiaries include Fubon Insurance Co. Ltd., Taipei Fubon Bank, Fubon Life, Fubon Bank (China), and Fubon Bank (Hong Kong).
Ranked third were Tsai Hong-tu, Tsai Cheng-ta, and their family, with a net worth of \$10.5 billion. They lead Cathay Financial Holdings, which operates Cathay United Bank and Cathay Life Insurance.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Koo Jr., a major shareholder in CTBC Financial Holding, placed 11th with a \$4.9 billion net worth. The Ma family, holding the largest stake in Yuanta Financial Holdings—owner of Yuanta Bank and Yuanta Life—ranked 14th with \$4.35 billion.
