On Thursday, organizers announced that Dua Lipa and SZA, along with rock group Coldplay, will occupy two of the three headlining slots at the inaugural Glastonbury Festival in June. This marks a significant lineup reveal for the much-anticipated event. This will be the first time that female acts have held such positions.
Shania Twain, a country pop singer, will play the “legend” slot on Sunday afternoon.
Shortly after releasing her third album, “Radical Optimism,” British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa, known for hits like “New Rules” and “One Kiss,” will debut on the Pyramid Stage.
On the other side, Coldplay are veterans of Worthy Farm. They are set to headline for a record-breaking fifth time.
The biggest surprise in the lineup is American R&B singer SZA. Transitioning into the next sentence, the 34-year-old’s hit song “Kill Bill” has been in the British charts for months, and his critically lauded album “SOS” was awarded a Grammy last month.
Tickets went on sale in November, and the festival sold out in less than an hour. However, the previous year’s all-male top lineup drew criticism.
This year’s biggest names in rock music will be Idles and The National. Additionally, other scheduled performers include British rapper Little Simz and Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy.
