Doha outlines 2026 budget featuring a 5% increase in expenditures

Doha, Qatar: Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari announced that Qatar’s 2026 State Budget anticipates total revenues of QR199 billion, marking a 1% increase over the 2025 budget.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, after HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani approved the 2026 General Budget under Law No. (26) of 2025, the Minister explained that the revenue projections are based on a conservative oil price assumption of $55 per barrel to maintain fiscal stability and safeguard against market volatility.

On the spending side, total expenditures are forecast at about QAR 220.8 billion for 2026—up 5% compared to the previous year.

He added that the projected 2026 deficit of QAR 21.8 billion will be financed through a mix of domestic and international borrowing, aligned with funding needs and debt market conditions.
