Cairo, Egypt – The Connected Banking Summit – North Africa | Innovation & Excellence Awards 2026 concluded successfully on 23 September 2026 at the Fairmont Nile City Hotel, Cairo, bringing together senior leaders from banking, financial services, regulation, technology, cybersecurity and digital finance to explore the technologies, policies and partnerships shaping Egypt’s next phase of financial-sector transformation.

The programme placed a strong focus on cyber-resilient financial infrastructure, digital banking and financial inclusion, responsible AI governance in banking automation, corporate banking transformation, risk management and regulatory alignment, and the shift from financial literacy to financial wellbeing, reflecting the critical priorities driving the country’s digital financial transformation.

The summit commenced with Opening Remarks & Welcome, setting the stage for a day of insightful discussions, followed by the Inaugural Keynote, which offered a focused perspective on the evolving direction of Egypt’s financial sector.

Building on the conversation around transformation across financial services, Manuel Villena, Managing Director for the Middle East, Ria Money Transfer, delivered the keynote “Evolution of Money Remittance from the Beginning of the Age & What the Future Holds,” offering insights into how remittance services have evolved over time and the emerging trends, technologies and opportunities shaping the future of cross-border money movement.
The Power Panel – “Building a Safe, Inclusive & Digitally Enabled Banking Ecosystem” brought together leaders from Banque du Caire, SAIB Bank, Banker’s Lounge, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Ria Money Transfer, moderated by Dr. Amany Elmahy, Chief Executive, Misr Insurance Company (SFSU), to discuss the priorities required to build a secure, accessible and digitally enabled banking ecosystem.
Reimagining Banking Through Digital Transformation
The keynote “Reinventing Corporate Banking Through Digital Transformation,” led by Emad Shawky, Head of Large Corporate Banking, National Bank of Egypt (NBE), explored the changing priorities of technology-led corporate banking transformation. The programme further examined governing the digital bank and strengthening technology risk and controls, AI in financial services, and the shift from digital transformation to intelligent banking, alongside discussions around financial literacy, financial wellbeing and customer-centric banking.

The summit also featured the Fireside Chat “Fintech’s Next Chapter — From AI Assistants to AI Agents,” bringing together Ahmed Boumbarek, Global Head of Value Advisory, Finshape; Amr Elharony, Founder, Fintech Biliguals; and Mohammed Thoufiq Ulla Khan, Deputy CEO, ICSA.
