Citi’s China tech hubs in Shanghai and Dalian face 3,500 job cuts.

Citi China has announced a significant reduction in its workforce, with plans to eliminate approximately 3,500 technology-focused roles. The layoffs will impact the bank’s global technology solution centers in Shanghai and Dalian, where it will also downsize its physical office space. The company expects this restructuring, which it refers to as “technical realignments,” to be finalized by the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2025.
