Israeli airstrikes in Gaza killed 50 Palestinians within 24 hours, as a truce remains elusive after Blinken’s visit.
As diplomatic efforts to end the 10-month war continued, Israeli jets targeted around 30 sites across Gaza, including tunnels.
It reported troops killed dozens of fighters, seizing weapons like explosives, grenades, and automatic rifles.
Later, the Israeli military struck a school and house in Gaza City, killing four and wounding 15, including children.
The military stated it targeted Hamas militants at a command center within a former school compound.
It accused Hamas of operating within civilian areas, a claim the group denies.
UN’s Philippe Lazzarini wrote on X that the attack on a UN school killed, injured, and burned children.
“Gaza is no place for children anymore. They are the first casualty of this merciless war. We can’t let the unbearable become a new norm. Enough. A ceasefire is beyond overdue,” Lazzarini wrote.
An Israeli airstrike killed seven Palestinians at a tent encampment near Khan Younis, southern Gaza, according to medics.
The military issued new evacuation orders for Deir Al-Balah, where overcrowded shelters host hundreds of thousands displaced by the conflict.
The military’s orders to evacuate a “dangerous combat zone” led to tank and machine gun fire, causing casualties.
Despite Blinken’s ninth visit since last October’s Gaza war, no progress has been made in bridging the conflict’s major differences.
Blinken’s talks with Egypt, Qatar, and Israel focused on Gaza’s crisis, where over 40,000 have died since October, and hostages.
Gaza’s Struggle: Displacement and Despair Amid Ongoing Conflict
The war started on Oct. 7 when Hamas attacked Israeli communities, killing 1,200 and abducting 250, as reported by Israel.
For displaced people in Deir Al-Balah, the lack of a ceasefire worsened their misery while they sought refuge from the fighting.
“Where will we go? Where will we go?” said Aburakan, 55, a displaced person from Gaza City in the territory’s north who has had to change refuge five times since October.
“Unfortunately, we may die before we see an end to this war. All ceasefire talk is a lie.”
Since the Israeli campaign began, most of Gaza’s 2.3 million people have been repeatedly displaced, even from so-called safe zones.
