ADNOC Secures US$1 Billion in Loans Under Existing Credit Facility

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed two loan agreements worth a combined US$1 billion on Monday under a US$3 billion credit facility established in 2024.

Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is providing US$543 million of a US$905 million loan, while HSBC’s Tokyo branch, Mizuho Bank and MUFG will finance the remaining amount, the Japanese export credit agency said in a statement on Wednesday.

Under a separate US$97 million loan, JBIC will contribute US$58 million, with HSBC and Mizuho Bank covering the balance.

The financing will support projects designed to reduce the environmental footprint and carbon emissions of ADNOC’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and sales operations. It will also fund power transmission and distribution infrastructure linked to electricity generated from solar and nuclear energy.

In February 2025, ADNOC secured two loans totalling US$103 million under the same credit facility, which was signed in July 2024.

The US$3 billion facility marked ADNOC’s first green financing initiative and is intended to advance the company’s decarbonisation strategy and broader energy transition goals.
