GCash has introduced a new feature called Tap to Pay, which lets users make contactless payments at over 150 million Mastercard locations around the world.
This service uses Near Field Communications (NFC) technology, thanks to a partnership with Alipay+ and Mastercard. It allows GCash users with NFC-enabled Android phones to pay directly from their e-wallets, without needing a physical credit or debit card.
GCash is one of the first Alipay+ partners to offer this kind of NFC payment. The feature comes with built-in security, including authentication and data encryption, to keep transactions safe.
With this launch, GCash is giving its users more ways to pay both at home and while traveling, helping to reduce the need for cash and physical cards. It also serves as a complement to their existing QR code payment option, which works in over 50 countries.
