According to Zenefits, a human resources software business, which rated 50 tropical islands based on seven criteria: population, average temperature, WIFI speed, cost of lodging, daily budget, ease of flying from the US to the island, and activities and attractions.

 Curacao, The Dutch Caribbean island has WIFI speeds that are faster than the US average and pleasant average temperatures, is first on the list of the top 10. Outside the workplace, there are  beaches that are nestled away in coves and a national park where visitors visit to watch turtles lay their eggs. If money is a concern, Koh Phangan in Thailand is an excellent destination for remote business activities. A low-budget traveler approximately spends $17 per day on expenses other than lodging.

The rating highlights a growing US trend of remote labor. US workers are eager to move abroad for changes of scenery as working from home continues to be the norm and employers provide more flexible scheduling options. In response, nations have also implemented various initiatives to entice these business-leisure travelers, with Thailand announcing tax benefits for long-term visa holders and Indonesia considering a special visa for remote employees.
