Geodis has completed the acquisition of e-commerce specialist Keppel Logistics as the forwarder expands its presence in Asia. The transaction announced at the beginning of the year has received all regulatory approvals necessary for completion.
Geodis stated that the acquisition would strengthen the two companies' respective e-commerce offerings by combining Keppel Logistics' delivery service with its controlled airfreight networks, sea freight, and road transport connections throughout the region.
Keppel Logistics, based in Singapore, is a contract logistics specialist with nearly 500 employees that operates around 200,000 square meters of warehouse space across Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia. "We are delighted to welcome Keppel Logistics' customers, employees, and management to the Geodis Group," said the company.
Marie-Christine Lombard, chief executive of Geodis said, “The acquisition of Keppel Logistics marks a key milestone in Geodis’ Asia Pacific ambition, increasing our Contract Logistics footprint and e-commerce fulfilment services in Singapore and Asia-Pacific.” The company also believes that this step shall aid in expanding the Asia-Pacific digital channel. It also urges that this can help the customers in responding to the growing e-Commerce opportunity given in today’s complex supply chain ecosystem, said Onno Boots, president and chief executive of Geodis in Asia-Pacific.
